Stephen Thomas Moyle born 1816 Cambourne, Cornwall, ENG died 1873 Bendigo, VIC married 1837 Cambourne, Cornwall to Julia Earle Bennetto (born 1819 Falmouth, Cornwall, died 1894 Durham Lead, VIC).
Stephen was a mine captain in Cornwall before migrating first to SA and then to VIC. He arrived in SA on the ship Cressy in 1847 with his wife and two children. He was a Methodist Lay Preacher and was also involved in the fostering of Cornish wrestling in Australia. He was a signatory on the petition in 1853 of miners against the licensing costs in Victoria that led to the Eureka Stockade insurrection.

- Mum of two and grandmother of eight, I have been researching my own family history for over 40 years. Other family members have asked me for help with their research and naturally I have oblidged. It is the thrill of the chase that keeps me going in my genie research. Nothing is more satisfying than finding a missing link. Except perhaps completing something that I have been creating. I'm also into things creative - I knit, I crochet and I sew.. and now I'm learning to spin as well. With all these grandkids, I spend time amusing them or sewing for them and making them toys and teddy bears as well. Their smiles and squeals of delight make it all worth while. My cousin and I are trying to connect the entire Keast clan and I stumbled across your blog.
According to another Keast researcher who claims to be descended from William Henry MOYLE and Eliza Jane KEAST, the parents for WHM are William Henry MOYLE and Susan Jane JAMES (apparently she has a copy of the marriage certificate).

My Grandfather was Alred Moyle and was married to Adeline. They lived in Melbourne pretty much all of their lives.

Unfortunately with a name like Moyle, a year of birth would make a big difference - as would a maiden name for Adeline.
Whilst I do not have them on my tree, you could try searching places like Worldconnect or Genes Reunited or Genforum.

I am also a descendent of William Henry MOYLE born 25 Dec 1856 in Bunninyong, whose parents were Stephen MOYLE and Julia Earle BENNETTS.
My records show that he married Rosina (Rose) SMITH on 19 Feb 1878 in Ballarat. I have the marriage entry and parents are definitely Stephen and Julia.
William moved to NZ in 1880 with his wife and first two children and remained here for the rest of his life, dying in Christchurch in 1926
As your information is obviously different to this I would appreciate sharing sources with you to ensure I have not made a mistake in my tree. My email is mackaa@xtra.co.nz

May I query the facts on William Henry Moyle who was my wife's great grand father. He married Eliza Jane Keast in 1879 and Marriage Certificate showed his age as being 27 (ie born in 1852) and born in Adelaide to father William Henry Moyle and mother Susan Jane unknown. His death occured on 20 July 1931 and he is buried in Eaglehawk Cemetery near Bendigo. At death he is listed as being 82 years old (ie born in 1849)with father as William Jihn Moyle. Any update appreciated.

Hello. I just wish to point out - as a couple of others have - that the William Henry Moyle who married Eliza Jane Keast was not the son of Stephen Moyle and Julia Earle Bennetto. Stephen and Julia did have a son William Henry Moyle (see provided URL for his birth details) but he married Rosina Smith in Sebastopol in 1878. I have a copy of their marriage certificate. I descend from Isaac ROACH (from Fogue,Cornwall) who married Mary MOYLE (from Tolcarne, Cornwall). She is the daughter of William MOYLE preacher who went from SA to Ballarat Vic. They were living in the Clare Valley SA. Isaac and Mary married in the tent of William MOYLE, Ballarat. Williams wife is Sarah OLIVER. Isaacs parents are Thomas ROACH and Mary THOMAS. The residence on marriage certificate shows Creswick Creek for Isaac and Mary.
