Giles Farnham 1878-1855 married Caroline French 1808-1868 the daughter of James French and Mary Ashby.
Caroline's father James French came to Australia with them when Giles & Caroline migrated in 1847, her brother Henry also came on the same ship - David Malcolm. James was a Greenwich Pensioner at the time - he had been in the British Navy as an Able Seaman and served aboard HMS Victory under Admiral Lord Horatio Nelson during the battle of Trafalgar.
Giles & Caroline were married at Dalwood, Devon, England in 1829 and had 12 children:=

I am James French's gggg grandfather. My Father is Les French son of Percy French, son of Henry French and Mary McClymont, son of Henry French and Ellen Riordan.
I would love to communicate with you.
When Ellen Riordan French left South Australia she travelled with her children to Sydney where Henry's brother James Harris was a prominent citizen. She ended up at a place called Cooloongoolook on the NSW mid north coast just south of Taree.
We thought that James was married to Mary Harris, not Mary Ashby hence son James Harris French's name. Have you ever heard this?
You might be interested to know that Henry French's last surviving child, Annie Irene (we called her Aunty Susie) died New Years Eve at the age of 103 and 9 months and all of her faculties intact. I miss her terribly.

This is a great find, especially to hear from all the cousins! I am descended from Ruth Farnham who married Robert Fox.
I think that Herbert Hilton and the three last children you attribute to Giles Farnham Snr, Emma,Josiah and Wilfred were actually sired by his son, also Giles Farnham.

I have not found Herbert Hilton there but his birthdate is given as 1873 in an obituary in The Advertiser 16 Feb 1934.

Hi julz , I'm related to Giles Farnham, senior. he is my great great great grandfather. He was married once before Caroline French, to susanna Woodgates, and their first and only child was Giles junior. Emma, Josiah and Wilfred belong to Giles jnr . Wilfred is my dad's grandfather. My surname is Farnham and we still live in roughly the same area as first settled.

commented on about Giles Farnham being married to Susannah Woodgates (1788-1828) before Caroline French (1808-1868) before Susannah.Giles and Caroline married Dec 16 1829 but Giles Junior was born in 1827 so is he Susannah's son. She passed away in 1828.
